Automotive Manufacturer Selects Carolina Core for Assembly Plant

VinFast, a Vietnamese electric vehicle and battery company, is bringing its first North American automotive assembly and battery manufacturing plant to North Carolina. The company plans to invest $4 billion and create 7,500 jobs in Chatham County, making this the largest economic development project in North Carolina’s history. VinFast evaluated over 50 megasites in 10 states for their facility.
VinFast is the automotive branch of Vingroup, a company founded in Ukraine in 1993 that covers trade and services, technology and industry, and social enterprise. In the early 2000s, the company began in Vietnam. VinFast was founded in 2017 and became Vietnam’s first automotive manufacturer on a global scale. The company announced plans for its California headquarters earlier this year and are now announcing this new automotive assembly and battery manufacturing facility in North Carolina. VinFast plans to start producing vehicles in the United States in 2024.

Truliant Federal Credit Union to Hire More Workers in the Triad

Truliant Federal Credit Union is expanding its workforce with a pledge to hire more than 100 employees during 2022. The Winston-Salem-based credit union said the additional workers are needed foremost in its technology and products and services areas. which include mortgage lending, insurance, indirect auto lending and business lending. About half of the jobs are projected to be based in the Triad. When the hiring is completed, Truliant will have about 920 employees, including about 720 in the Triad.

RPM Wood Finishes Group to Locate in Greensboro

RPM Wood Finishes Group will invest $25 million in a new Greensboro facility. The new facility will create 53 new jobs that pay an average of $70,000. The company makes finishing products for things like wooden furniture, wooden floors, fabrics, and more.
RPM’s new facility on Thorndike Road will occupy 60,000 square feet of office and lab space. It will be used for product research and development.

Kieffer Starlite Expanding in Mount Airy

Kieffer Starlite, a national sign builder is expanding its primary facility and consolidating its operations in Mount Airy. Kieffer Starlite performs graphics, welding fabrication, painting and electrical assembly production in the building, where it will be joined by thermoforming operations. The company employs 145, 35 in Mount Airy. The consolidation and expansion is expected to be completed by the end of August and to create at least 15 jobs.

PolarOnyx Relocates to Chatham County

PolarOnyx, a California-based advanced laser 3D manufacturing company, recently relocated to Chatham County from Silicon Valley. PolarOnyx will take over the 142,000 sq ft former Performance Bicycle building off U.S. Highway 15-501 to accommodate production and workspace for employees.
Founded in 2002, PolarOnyx designs, develops, and manufactures products for the medical industry, defense and aerospace markets.
