More in the Core for Life

At core of North Carolina, discover a vibrant and diverse region experiencing undeniable momentum. Centrally located between Charlotte and the Research Triangle, the Carolina Core stretches more than 150 miles — connecting west of Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem to Fayetteville.

Anchored by the NC Triad, this flourishing region offers an exceptional lifestyle at lower costs, easy access to beaches and mountains, and a hot job market with room to grow. So, whether you’re looking to kickstart your career in a region that’s taking off or put down roots in a place that’s affordable and adventure-filled, there’s always more in the core.

Ask just about anyone and they’ll tell you they love living in the Carolina Core. They love the ease of getting around, which gives them more time back in their day for doing what they love to do. They love the wide range of attractive choices when it comes to housing—which is the most affordable in North Carolina and well below the national average. They love having great options for public or private K-12 schools (some of which are nationally ranked) and state-of-the-art health care facilities.

Residents savor the four seasons of mild weather and the fact that you can get to the beach or the mountains in under two hours or stay close to home and enjoy a top-notch arts, culture and dining scene, or hiking on our 200 miles of trails, paddling on our lakes and rivers, or golfing. (We’re home to the famed Pinehurst No. 2 course, not to mention countless other fine golf links.)

Many also love the easy access to so many sporting events. Between the PGA Wyndham Championship, the Winston-Salem Open, and numerous minor league and college teams, sports fans have a game to cheer on year-round. The Carolina Core has minor league baseball stadiums in each of its three major cities. If you want to go pro, it’s a short drive to get to a Carolina Panthers (NFL), Charlotte Hornets (NBA) or Carolina Hurricanes (NHL) game, or root for a plethora of nearby college teams.

Whether you’re looking to kickstart your career in a region that’s experiencing undeniable momentum or put down roots in a place that’s affordable and adventure-filled, there’s always more in the Core. For more information about working and living in the Carolina Core, visit MoreInTheCore.com.

Investing in Community Assets

Communities throughout the Carolina Core are investing in parks, public spaces and cultural centers and that bring people together. In High Point, Congdon Yards has become a popular gathering place, as has the area surrounding the newly opened Truist Point stadium where the High Point Rockers play and the Carolina Core FC, a men’s professional soccer team will have its inaugural season in 2024.
The impressive new Nido and Mariana Qubein Children’s Museum in High Point joins other family-friendly destinations like the Greensboro Science Center or LaBauer Park in downtown Greensboro.

Greensboro’s state-of-the-art Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts is a 3,000-seat facility hosting everything from Broadway productions to family comedy shows.
In Winston-Salem, Bailey Park offers everything from concerts to free yoga on the lawn; the food hall in Innovation Quarter is full of action; and microbreweries are popping up everywhere.
