Triad fabric maker surpasses plastic-to-fabric recycling milestone
In 2017, Greensboro-based Unifi (NYSE: UFI) set a goal of transforming 20 billion plastic bottles into synthetic yarns. On Thursday, the fabric maker announced it has exceeded its goal through its REPREVE platform of recycled performance fibers, which has been adopted by more than 500 global brand and textile partners.
This milestone is the equivalent of keeping 156 plastic bottles per U.S. household out of landfills and transforming them into sustainable fabric used in apparel, upholstery, automotive and industrial applications.
