Nucor Corporation Selects Davidson County for $350 million Investment

Nucor Corporation, a steel and steel product manufacturer, will build a new “micro-mill” in Lexington. The company, which has its headquarters in Charlotte, will invest $350 million into the project which will create 180 jobs with an average annual wage of $99,066, higher than the Davidson County average of $45,117.
Nucor is the largest recycler in North America, and the new facility in Lexington will produce new steel and rebar that is made of almost 100% recycled steel. The projected output of the new mill is 430,00 tons, answering the growing demand for sustainable steel products.

FedEx Plans Distribution Facility in Chatham County

FedEx Corp. plans to open a 338,000 sq ft distribution center in New Hill. The facility, which is slated to open in early 2023, sits along Pea Ridge Road near its intersection with U.S. Highway 1.
The distribution center will employ a mix of full-time and part-time workers.
“We continue to experience significant package volume due to e-commerce growth and are optimizing the capacity of our network to meet growing demand for our services,” the spokesperson said. “The site was chosen because of its ease of access to major highways, proximity to customers’ distribution centers and a strong local community workforce for recruiting employees.”

Service Offsite Solutions to Expand in Lee County; Create 235 Jobs and Invest $11.8 million

Service Offsite Solutions, a supplier of offsite homebuilding solutions, will create 235 new jobs in a Lee County. The company will invest $11.8 million to build a new manufacturing facility in Sanford.
Using innovative processes and high-tech equipment and tools, SOS builds precision framing components for turnkey residential construction. SOS manufactures floors, roofs, and walls in an offsite plant that will be shipped and installed on the home construction site in less time than stick-built construction. This expansion will increase the company’s operational footprint by more than 240,000 square feet of space for manufacturing, warehouse, and distribution.

Plan C Crypto to open Fayetteville location

Plan C Crypto, a cryptocurrency data mining company plans to open a facility in Fayetteville. The company expects to open the facility in the third quarter of 2022 and employ 19 people initially. It also has facilities coming online in Tarboro, Boone, and Wilson. The firm will look to hire “skilled professionals in the electrical, security and information technology fields, featuring yearly salaries that are significantly higher than the county average.”

Amazon to Create 500 jobs in Fayetteville

Amazon plans to build a 1.3 million square foot fulfillment facility in the Military Business Park in Fayetteville and will create more than 500 full-time jobs and hundreds of other part-time roles. The full-time positions will pay $15.00 per hour with an average annual salary of $33,000. The average wage for Cumberland County is $31,300.
The new facility is expected to open in 2023 and will be located on 94 acres of land. The facility will receive products and process them through the company’s fulfillment network, readying the products for shipping and delivery to customers.
“Amazon is excited to expand operations in Cumberland County, North Carolina, investing in a new fulfilment center in Fayetteville,” said Nikki Forman, an Amazon spokesperson. “We are committed to providing efficient delivery for customers and creating hundreds of jobs for the talented workforce in the area.”
