Nucor Rebar Fabrication Invests Additional $20 Million in Davidson County

Nucor Rebar Fabrication, a leading fabricator of concrete reinforcing steel, will create 25 new jobs and invest more than $20 million to establish a new rebar fabrication facility in Davidson County.

Nucor Rebar Fabrication, an affiliate of Nucor Corporation, is a construction services company that fabricates, installs, and distributes rebar to a variety of infrastructure and building projects. The new rebar fabrication facility in Lexington will be adjacent to the new steel rebar micro mill Nucor is currently building in the city.

While wages will vary by position, the average annual wage for the new positions will be $65,000, exceeding the Davidson County average of $51,201. These new jobs could potentially create an annual payroll impact of more than $ 1.6 million for the region.

US Foods Expanding in Lexington

US Foods, one of America’s leading foodservice distributors announced its plans to expand its US Foods Stock Yards® operations to a 220,000-square-foot space at 133 Lexington Parkway, Lexington. The building is the former home of the Save-A-Lot grocery distribution center.

The new location will support the growth and expansion of the company’s US Foods Stock Yards products operations. Stock Yards is the company’s exclusive brand which provides foodservice operators and experienced chefs nationwide with expertly cut and portioned USDA Choice steaks, chops and other premium meats, including the company’s Tender by Design™ steak offerings. The new location is expected to open operations in 2026 and will bring more than 100 new jobs to Lexington by 2027.

James M. Pleasants Company Inc. (JMP), a major distributor and sales representative for HVAC, plumbing, and other industrial equipment, will consolidate its Greensboro operations into a new facility, creating 40 jobs over five years. JMP will invest $30 million in Guilford County.
JMP operates in locations across the Southeastern United States. The company’s consolidation in Greensboro will bring together the company’s headquarters, distribution, and light manufacturing operations into a single facility.

Ross Stores to Build Distribution Center in Randolph County; Create 850 job, Invest $450 Million

Ross Stores, Inc. will build a new distribution center and create 852 jobs in Randolph County. The company will invest $450 million to build a Southeastern region distribution center in the City of Randleman.

Ross Stores is a $20 billion, Fortune 500 company that operates two off-price chains including Ross Dress for Less, the largest off-price apparel and home fashion chain in the U.S. The company will build its ninth distribution center in a 1.7 million square-foot facility on 330 acres for warehousing, fulfillment, and packing operations. These new jobs could create a potential payroll impact of more than $39 million for the region each year.
