Superior Glove Selects High Point; Creates 100 Jobs

Superior Glove, a global leader in the design and manufacturing of safety gloves and sleeves, has selected High Point for its first manufacturing facility in the United States. Superior Glove has leased a 45,000 SF warehouse at 782 Gallimore Dairy Road with plans to make a significant capital investment and create over 100 jobs in the next 5 years. The company, based in Acton, Ontario, Canada, specializes in providing work gloves and personal protective equipment (PPE) to industrial, welding, contractor and specialty markets.

Wieland to Expand in Stokes County; Add 50 Jobs, Invest $27 Million

Wieland, a global copper manufacturer, will add 50 new jobs and invest more than $27 million in expanding its production facility in Pine Hall.
Wieland is one of the world’s leading suppliers of semi-finished copper and copper alloy products. With a global network of production sites, Wieland offers a range of solutions for customers in the air conditioning, refrigeration, electronics, and automotive industries. The company will expand its current facility in Pine Hall to meet rising market demand for tubing and energy-efficient cooling systems within the HVAC, defense, and aerospace industries.

While wages vary by position, the average annual wage for new positions will average $56,900, exceeding the Stokes County average of $36,481. These new jobs could potentially create an annual payroll impact of more than $2.8 million for the region.

IQE to Expand in Greensboro, Add 190 Jobs and Invest $305 Million

IQE, Inc., a global semiconductor manufacturer, will expand in Guilford County, signaling its ongoing commitment to future investment in the region, subject to customer commitments and funding from the federal CHIPS Act. The company plans to add 109 jobs and invest $305 million over several years to expand its manufacturing facility for next generation compound semiconductor material in the City of Greensboro.
IQE, Inc. is the United States subsidiary of IQE, PLC. Operating in Greensboro for more than a decade and with 72 employees, IQE manufactures epi wafers using molecular beam epitaxy for the defense and aerospace industries. This potential investment would add a new, complementary epitaxy called metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) and would provide a new clean technology for semiconductor chip production to help serve the electric vehicle market.

“Greensboro has proven to be a strategic location for IQE and has provided access to exceptional talent,” said Jutta Meier, Interim CEO of IQE. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with the city as we progress further with our application for Government funding via the CHIPS Act, which along with funding commitments from the State, will provide us with the capital to invest and expand our local footprint.”

Toyota Tsusho America plans Winston-Salem location; Creates 39 Jobs

Toyota Tsusho America Inc. (TAI), a member of the Toyota Group, has chosen Winston-Salem’s Whitaker Park for a facility that will be used create sustainable recycling and waste-handling solutions for Toyota’s new battery manufacturing plant in Liberty, NC which is set to begin production in 2025. The project will create 39 jobs over five years.

Foster Caviness Chooses the Triad; Adds 165 New Jobs and Invests $6.25 Million

Foster Caviness, a fresh food warehousing and distribution company with a legacy in the Triad will invest $6.25 million over five years at new location in Winston-Salem and add 165 new jobs. Foster Caviness is a family-owned fresh produce provider that began in 1902 with a produce stand on a street corner in Guilford County. Today it is headquartered in Colfax and supports the agricultural community throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. After its recent acquisition of Greenville Produce, the company was seeking a new location to meet growth in demand. An additional 140 employees will be retained from the company’s current location in Guilford County.
