Polyvlies USA Expands in Winston-Salem; Invests $31 Millions, Creates 28 New jobs

Polyvlies USA, a nonwoven textiles company, will expand in Winston-Salem; the company has purchased a greenfield site in Union Cross Business Park for a new facility where it will spend $31 million in capital investment and create 28 new jobs. The company currently operates a textile manufacturing facility on Business Park Drive

Polyvlies is a global leader in needle punched nonwoven fabrics with a variety of innovative product lines. The company has grown from a family-owned company established in Germany more than 170 years ago. Today it employs about 500 people and operates at several locations in Europe as well as in Winston-Salem. The company produces material for the automotive, geotextiles, agricultural, and construction industries.

Gillespie Precast Chooses Randolph County; Creates 39 Jobs, Invests $10 Million

Gillespie Precast will establish a new manufacturing plant in Randolph County that will create 39 jobs. The company, a leading producer of custom precast concrete, will invest $10 million in Asheboro. Gillespie Precast is a fifth-generation family-owned company with headquarters in Chestertown, Maryland. It manufactures a wide range of concrete products used in different industrial applications, such as box culverts, utility vaults, and custom walls. The company will establish a manufacturing operation in Asheboro to produce precast concrete wet and dry utility vaults, manholes, catch basins, box culverts and other custom structures. The new facility will allow the company to better serve customers in northeast, mid-Atlantic, and southern markets in North America. Although wages will vary depending on the position, the average salary for the new jobs will be $64,154. The current average wage in Randolph County is $49,355.

Opsun Corporation Chooses High Point; Creates 20 Jobs, Invests $9.3 Million

Opsun Corporation, a manufacturer of structures for solar panels, will create 20 new jobs in Guilford County. The company will invest $9.3 million to build its first United States production facility in High Point. Headquartered in Quebec City, Opsun Corporation designs and manufactures aluminum solar panel mounting structures for commercial, industrial, and residential markets.

While wages vary by position, the annual average salary for the new positions will be $63,015, exceeding Guilford County’s average of $60,195. These new jobs could potentially create an annual payroll impact of more than $1.2 million for the region.

SBA Home Chooses Davie County; Creates 250 Jobs, Invests $50.8 Million

SBA Home has selected Mocksville as the site for its first U.S. furniture manufacturing facility. The company will create 250 jobs and invest $50.8 million by the end of 2029.

The new jobs will have an average annual wage of $53,470, exceeding Davie County’s current average wage. New positions include manufacturing and warehousing positions, as well as administrative and managerial roles and could create a potential payroll impact of more than $13.3 million.
SBA Home is the largest division of SBA Grupe UAB, a Lithuanian conglomerate, that exports furniture to 50 different countries around the world. After more than 20 years, the company has grown to employ more than 3,000 employees in four manufacturing facilities and a distribution center in Lithuania. The division exports 800 products, including wood veneer furniture, cabinets, sofas, and armchairs, to 50 countries.

Cherokee Tobacco Company Selects Caswell County; Creates 39 Jobs, Invest $14 Million

Cherokee Tobacco Company will create 39 new jobs and invest more than $14 million to build a new manufacturing and distribution operation in Caswell County. Cherokee Tobacco Company is a family-owned business that has manufactured and sold its own brand of cigarettes, cigars, and pipe products for more than two decades.

The new build-to-suit facility will provide a clean manufacturing space to add new, next-generation product lines. The company will consolidate their existing operations, along with JEB International, into one 65,000-square-foot location in Pelham.
Although salaries will vary by position, the average annual wage will be $65,154, which exceeds the Caswell County average of $43,046. These new jobs could potentially create an annual payroll impact of more than $2.5 million for the region.
